Chilean Rally Champion Jaime Prohens & his brother Felipe

competed successfully during Dakar Rally 2010

Chile/ Argentina: For the second year in a row, the oneof-a-kind event "Rally of Dakar" took place between 1st and 17th January 2010 on the territories of Argentina and Chile where the long stay in the Atacama Desert was definitely the limax of a 9,000 kilometres loop over the continent. The global balance of the course with varied difficulties forced all to be consistent and careful until to the end. The history of Dakar began in 1977 when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from the sands in extremis, he returned to France still in thrall to this landscape and promising himself he would share his fascination with as many people as possible.

He proceeded to come up with a route starting in Europe, continuing to Algiers and crossing Agadez before eventually finishing at Dakar. The founder coined a motto for his inspiration: "A challenge for those who go. A dream for those who stay behind." The plan quickly became a reality. Since then, the Paris-Dakar is a unique event sparked by the spirit of adventure.

DARK DOG joined this event - also for the second year in a row - sponsoring the two Chilean brothers Felipe and Jaime Prohens in the category of motorbikes. The Guaraná & Vitamin Energy Drink definitely proved to be their energy booster on the roads, in the mountains and the desert of Argentina and Chile: 184 motorbike riders competed during 17 days against each other and against the difficult weather and route conditions and 88 of them finished exhausted but entirely happy the race in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Among them the two brothers Felipe and Jaime Prohens ending the Rally Dakar 2010 with a 20th and 34th position overall. Additionally, DARK DOG is especially proud to announce that Felipe reached the 6th position in the amateur category.

DARK DOG congratulates both Chilean riders to their great success and wishes them the best for the upcoming motorbike season 2010!
