DARK DOG rider Jules Cluzel retired after 5th position,

fantastic 8th for 125cc rider Hiroki Ono

Jerez de la Frontera, Spain: After the promising start of the season with a seventh place in Qatar Jules Cluzel had to face a tricky race under the Andalusian sun. In qualifying practice the young French rider was not able to show his whole potential as the traffic situation on track, especially during the last minutes, was similar to a rush hour in one of Europe’s capitals. In fact Jules was improving significantly his lap time when he was slowed down by some riders in the final part of the track on his last flying lap. Nevertheless the 22year old rider was confident for the race, hoping to get himself with one of his normally fantastic starts in a better position.

Confidence as well for Alex Baldolini. After a suffered weekend in Qatar Alex handled it to improve continuously his feeling with the bike, so that the better lap time followed as a consequence. The young Italian rider was still not at his maximum but the long hours with his technicians indicated the right direction for the set-up of the bike.

Unfortunately the rain arrived on the Andalusian track in the south of Spain on the race day and with the rain the fortune left Forward Racing. Jules Cluzel crashed out after a fantastic start fighting for the fifth position and Alex Baldolini retired for technical problems.

The technical staff is working well and the DARK DOG´s young 125cc riders are improving race by race. The 20 years old Japanese Hiroki Ono finished the Andalusian race in 8th position thanks to a good start and a good pace. For his German team mate Daniel it was an encouraging race: he fell, restarted and finished 22nd.

DARK DOG is going to support its riders with MORE ENERGY during the next race in Portugal on 17th May 2011 and is confident that both teams will do everything to take home as much points for the championship as possible.

„First of all I want to say that I’m sorry for Marc Marquez. Unfortunately I did a mistake because my rear tyre touched the white line so I could not break but I really tried to push the bike to the center of the corner to avoid to run into him. But it was impossible; I really regret it. Until this moment I was in a quite good position. I had a fantastic start and after 3 corners I was already sixth. Than it took me some time to find the right rhythm as we never were on track with wet conditions during the whole weekend. But with every lap I got a better feeling. When Marquez passed me I tried to follow him and realized that I was able to go his pace until we both crashed out. For sure I’m very upset but now I have to work concentrated for the next race to recover as many points as possible for the championship.“

„Honestly I do not know what happened. Normally I was really competitive with wet conditions but today just after a few laps I found myself with spinning problems on my rear tyre and the situation got worse with every single lap as the tyre heated up. I cannot hide that I’m disappointed as I wanted to start the season in another way but now I have to look forward to the next race in Estoril, where I finished on the podium last year.“

Hiroki Ono, 76

8th position
„I know this track and I knew I could have been fast. I recovered a lot of positions thank to my start but in the end of the race I had problems with the tires.“

Daniel Kartheininger, 12

22nd position
„I lost my front and I crashed. Fortunately I could restart trying to do my best.“
